N.B. This, the new website of York Spiritualist Centre, (YSC), is still under construction. However, essential information is already here, (and much more besides).

York Spiritualist Centre, (YSC), welcomes everyone to its services and advertised events, regardless of their religious belief or spiritual orientation. The Centre is affiliated to the Spiritualist National Union, (SNU), and is a registered charity - Charity No. 261898.
The Centre exists to give evidence of the continuity of consciousness and life beyond the death of the physical body, to demonstrate over time all forms of mediumship, to be a meeting place for people of like mind and spiritual direction, to assist spiritual growth and understanding, to offer spiritual healing to those who ask for it, and to help develop and support the intuitive, psychic and mediumistic abilities that all people have, though to different degrees.  You can find us at:

Services

The Centre holds a Divine Service each Sunday at 6:30pm, except during the Christmas/New Year holiday period. Each service is taken by a medium accredited by the SNU, or other creditable Spiritualist organisation. You can find a list of this year's visiting mediums by clicking the "Events" link above. More information about what first-time visitors can expect at our services can be found by clicking the "About" link above. All visitors to our centre are welcome to stay after the service for coffee, tea, or a herbal tea, and a biscuit, to chat with serving officers of the Centre, or other members. This is encouraged as a very good way of finding out more about us, about Spiritualism generally, and how we and Spiritualism can help and serve you.

York Spiritualist Centre - Main Hall
On the last Sunday of every month there is a small charge, payable at the door, of £1.50 for members and £2.00 for non-members for a slightly longer 'Demonstration of Mediumship'.

At all other Sunday services a free-will collection is taken. The Centre also supplements its funds by holding a raffle at the end of each Sunday service. Members and regular visitors are invited to donate good quality unwanted gifts suitable to be used as raffle prizes.

Trainee Mediums

The centre gives two opportunities each month for trainee mediums, who have been practising in our open circles and attending courses and workshops, to gain experience working on the platform.
The first occasion is on the last Sunday of each month after the service at about 8pm, when visitors are welcome to stay behind to give moral support, and perhaps receive a message.
The second occasion is on the second Wednesday of each month, during the Open Circle which starts at 7:30pm.  On this occasion, friends and family of the trainee medium are welcome to attend.

Membership

Visitors who have been attending the centre for a while may feel that they would like to become members. It is an SNU requirement that people spend a minimum period of 6 months as an associate member before they can become full members. The minimum age for membership is 16, and the minimum age for associate-membership is 14.
Both associate members and full members benefit from a small reduction in the charges for open circles, courses and workshops.
The cost of associate membership is £3.25 for each 6 month period, or part of a 6 month period. The cost of full membership is £6.50 for one calendar year. Membership fees fall due on the 1st January each year. Full members may nominate and vote for committee members at the AGM. Those who feel that they would like to become associate members should approach the Committee Secretary, whose contact details may be found on the "Contacts" page.
