Services
The Centre holds a Divine Service
each Sunday at 6:30pm, except during the Christmas/New Year
holiday
period. Each service is taken by a medium accredited by the SNU, or
other creditable Spiritualist organisation. You can
find a list of this year's visiting mediums by clicking the "Events"
link above. More information about what first-time visitors can expect
at our services can be found by clicking the "About" link above. All
visitors to our centre are welcome to stay after the service for coffee, tea,
or a herbal tea, and a biscuit, to chat with serving officers of
the Centre, or other members. This is encouraged as a very good way of
finding out more about us, about Spiritualism generally, and how we and
Spiritualism can help and serve you.
![]() |
On the last Sunday of every month there is a small charge, payable at the door, of £2.00 for everyone, for a slightly longer 'Demonstration of Mediumship'. |
At all other Sunday services a free-will collection is taken. The Centre also supplements its funds by holding a raffle at the end of each Sunday service. Members and regular visitors are invited to donate good quality unwanted gifts suitable to be used as raffle prizes.

What's New on our Website?
Our website is still under construction. (Is a website ever finished?) Essential information is of course here, and much more besides! New pages are being added at regular intervals.
2/12/12
New prayers added to the prayers page in the Writings section.
1/12/12
New poems added to the poetry page in the Writings section.
25/11/12
Changes made to the relevant pages to detail the changes in the times and format of the Open Circles and the Development Circle starting the week beginning 25/11/12. See entry below, but particularly the Circles & Development page.
25/12/11
Psychic News returns. See News Section below.
27/11/11
Item on the new "Arthur Conan Doyle Centre" in Edinburgh added to 'The News Section' on this page.
16/10/11
Page on Near-Death Experiences in the More section updated.
1/7/11
New informational material added to the Spiritualist Magazines & Papers page.
14/6/11
Space for a "More" section has been created. It replaces the Guestbook section, which never worked properly. At the moment, the new section is empty of content, but it is hoped, as time allows, to present here content on the sort of evidence which adds weight to the claims of Spiritualism, but is not generally investigated by Spiritualist Churches and Centres - e.g. Near Death Experiences, Out of Body Experiences, Lucid Dreams, Deathbed Visions, Remote Viewing, Psychic Detective Work, etc. It will also be a miscellaneous section where things which don't fit comfortably into other sections will be placed.
14/6/11
A "News" section was added to the bottom of this page.

Open Circles
We have two opportunities each week for people who want to attend an Open Circle. On Monday we have our Daytime Open Circle from 2:00pm to 3:30pm run by Avril.
From 7.00pm, on Wednesday we have an evening DEVELOPMENT Circle run by Garry, which will offer a deeper learning experience.
For detailed information about the Open Circles and Development Circles in a Spiritualist setting, please click here for the "About" page, where you should find your questions answered. If not, you may discuss them with any Committee member after the Divine Service on Sunday evening or telephone the secretary. We are always looking at new ways of enabling mediumistic progression and we hope that these Circles will be well supported.
Everyone is welcome to attend. We have to make a small charge to cover our expenses.
Please click here for more information on charges.

The Centre runs many courses and workshops. These are designed to help train and develop psychic awareness and mediumistic ability. Introductory information about these can now be found on the 'About' section 'Introduction' page. To access this, please click here.
Alternatively, to find out what Courses and workshops are coming up, please click here to go to the relevant section on the 'Events' page.

Trainee Mediums
The centre gives an opportunity each month for trainee mediums, who have been practising in our open circles and attending courses and workshops, to gain experience working on the platform.
This occasion is on the last Sunday of each month after the service at about 8pm, when visitors are welcome to stay behind to give moral support, and perhaps receive a message.

News
Rose Wing Spiritual Centre, Blackpool
The Blackpool mediums, Jeanette & Colin Greenough, who did a special mediumship demonstration for us on April 2nd 2011, have a new website for their Rose Wing Spiritual Centre.
Check it out at: http://spiritual.rosewing.co.uk/
Rose Wing Hotel, Blackpool
They also have a separate website for hotel bookings, for those who would like a friendly stay in Blackpool, but who don't want to be involved with a Spiritualism course.
You can access this at: http://hotel.rosewing.co.uk/
Arthur Conan Doyle Centre, Edinburgh
The SNU Trust have funded a new Spiritualist venue in Edinburgh called appropriately the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre. Spiritualists will know that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was, as well as being a writer of distinction, a prominent and campaigning Spiritualist, who was born in Edinburgh and began his career there.
Opened at the end of October 2011, the Centre is situated in Palmerston Place next to St Mary's Cathedral, in the heart of Edinburgh's attractive West End. It is administered by "The Palmerston Trust" a registered charity in Scotland, and has also become the new home of the Edinburgh Association of Spiritualists, who formerly met in Morrison Street.
From their website: (Click here to go to it)
"The Centre provides excellent learning facilities for all to have the opportunity to participate in a varied programme of workshop, seminars and worship in a comfortable and inviting venue.
The Centre is developing a full programme of quality training courses. Our programme shows those courses already available for 2012.
To preserve the quality of all our workshops, numbers are strictly limited and we only use the best tutors nationally and internationally.
Our courses fill up very quickly, so book early to avoid disappointment!"
Certainly an alternative venue, York people might also find the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre in Edinburgh more easily accessible than the Arthur Findlay College at Stansted in Essex.
Psychic News Returns
Those who lamented the demise of the flagship Spiritualist newspaper in 2010 need sigh no more. Thanks to the support of the JV Trust, the new owners of the paper, who wish to keep it as an independent voice of Spiritualism, Psychic News has been reincarnated as a fortnightly newspaper. It will also be available as a pdf file, which you can download to your computer.
From the "Spirit of PN" website:
"The new-format Psychic News was launched on 15th December and will be published fortnightly.
You’ll be able to choose from printed and internet versions and you can subscribe for either 6 months or 12.
We’re thrilled to be able to offer you the new fortnightly Psychic News at £1.40 per single issue, which works out at exactly the same price as the 70p you used to pay weekly.
A subscription to the printed copy costs £48 for a year, or £25 for 6 months. To pay by credit or debit card call Alita McGuiness on 01279 874341.
If you prefer to pay by cheque, make it payable to “Psychic Press Ltd” and send it with your name and address to Psychic News, Suite 6, Thremhall Park, Start Hill, Bishops Stortford CM22 7WE.
A year’s subscription to the online version costs just £26, or £14 for 6 months. If you’d like to subscribe online, simply visit www.psychicnews.org.uk and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you’re new to Psychic News, you can find out more by taking advantage of our free online trial offer. Just visit the website for details."
