Though still under construction, there are now some book recommendations for you here.

On these pages we will try to open up for you the enormous literature that there is on Spiritualism, from its modern beginnings with the Fox sisters in America in the 1840s through to the present day. This literature has its classics, and we will mention these. Then we will talk about more recent books that enquirers and experienced Spiritualists alike might enjoy. There will be a section where Members of YSC can recommend books, write a little about them and say why they enjoy them. Then we hope to introduce you to the large number of "ebooks", (book in "electronic" or digital format), that are freely available online. Spiritualist websites, online articles and blogs will be discussed in the Links section. We will begin this Section by talking about our Centre's library.

Our Centre Library

It would be wonderful to be able to display all our library books properly in a rooom set aside for this purpose, but unfortunately we do not have the luxury of a spare room. Our books are stored in the tall, varnished, wooden cupboards to the left of the main exit, some on high shelves that it needs a step-ladder to reach. A members of the Committee, Ginny, is currently busy cataloguing some donated books and bringing the library records up to date. Her report on the library will appear below. Our library is quite extensive, and covers many different Spiritualist topics. It is also contains many books that have long been out of print, which give fascinating glimpses into Spiritualism of the 19th and early 20th centuries, and some of the outstanding evidence given by mediums alive then.

Borrowing a book from the Centre Library

Members, associate members, friends of our Centre and regular attendees are welcome to borrow library books. To find out what is available, where the different sections are housed, and how to enter details of the book borrowed, you should see Ginny or Hazel for assistance. If they are not available, please ask a member of the Committee.
There is currently a small charge of 50p per book borrowed per week. This small donation is asked for to help with our fundraising.
