By Car or By Bicycle

There is a choice of map links in the right-hand column for car-drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to study their journey before travelling. For safe parking, cyclists may lock their bikes to railings or a bar in the small car-park at the rear of the Centre. This car-park is closed during services and other events. On-street parking space in the immediate vicinity of York Spiritualist Centre tends to be quickly taken before a Sunday service, so drivers who can do so are requested to park a short distance away, leaving space in the immediate vicinity for those who cannot walk far, (as well as for our long-suffering neighbours).
Please note: On Google Maps The Fox public house is shown in the wrong place. It is close to the junction of the A59 with the B1224; and the marker "A" does not indicate the position of York Spiritualist Centre, which is further up the road, close to the junction with St Paul's Terrace.

Walking or by Public Transport

York Spiritualist Centre is a short distance as the crow flies behind York Railway Station and the railway tracks that bypass it. Those wishing to walk from the station should find that the walk takes 15 to 20 minutes walking at a comfortable pace. It is recommended that you walk via Blossom Street and Holgate Road, and then across Holgate Iron Bridge before turning right along Watson Street, then second left along St Paul's Terrace. Wilton Rise is the first junction you come to. Turn left, and York Spiritualist Centre is about 20 yards on the left. This route avoids the inclines down Holgate Hill and then up Wilton Rise. Alternatively you can catch any one of a number of different buses. Buses numbered 1, 5**, 10, 412, 413, depart from different stops opposite the station and travel along Holgate Road. Alight either at the stop immediately after Holgate Iron Bridge, or at the next stop which is just before The Fox Public House on the right-hand side of the road. For your convenience, links to the timetables for these buses have been placed under "Bus Info" in the right-hand column.
** Please Note: Passengers on the No. 5 bus must alight at the stop immediately after Holgate Iron Bridge, as the bus then turns left into Hamilton Drive East, which will take you away from YSC.

Those arriving by bus travelling up Tadcaster Road from the south - buses numbered 4, 12, 13, 13A, 840, 843, 844, 845 - or on one of these buses passing down The Mount in the opposite direction, should alight at "Mill Mount". They should then walk along Dalton Terrace to Holgate Iron Bridge, cross the bridge and turn right into Watson Street, then proceed as detailed above. The walk takes about 10 minutes walking at a comfortable pace.
Those arriving on the Number 3 bus travelling up Tadcaster Road from Askham Bar Park and Ride must alight at the Reel Cinema, (formerly The Odeon Cinema). This is the first stop on this bus after leaving Askham Bar. Walk back a little way to the junction of Holgate Road with Blossom St., where you turn right and then continue as above. The walk takes about 12 minutes walking at a comfortable pace.
