On Prayer

Amongst the suffering and strife across the world, there is always a beacon of hope.
Collective prayers and positive thoughts will reach the people who need them the most. They send forth the strength to fight for survival when the purpose of living seems futile.
Prayers send out that glimmer of hope and vision of light when all appears to be lost.
Let your faith in prayer shine out across the world.

I don't think mediums have a problem

I don't thnk mediums have a problem.
It is psychics!
Splitting hairs maybe.
But mediums pass on messages from dead people, and it is up to you whether you belive in such things. They rarely make predictions or talk about personality or motivation, and when they do they are saying this is what the dead person says.
A psychic or tarot reader, etc, advises on direction and analyses personality, with predictions about the future.
Here there might be a problem.
They usually do handle such things gently and leave the person the control. So as long as they are wise and unforceful they shouldn't have a problem.
There may well be fake mediums, but it is either unlikely or obvious. I have only ever once come across one event (and that was a séance, a different thing), that I thought could have been rigged. It is just about impossible to give dozens of messages a night with details of people's lives in them without the aid of spirit.
Those who are ripping people off need to be exposed, and so as long as the trading standards people are balanced about things this should be an improvement upon the old laws, (which had some ridiculous elements).
This seachange (in legislation), is coming along however as part of a nannying movement that is more keen on regulating that reality. The entertainment laws have shown that a foolish situation can be made worse and we live in a country where a supernanny from television has been employed to form government policy.
The key over all, I 'believe', is belief. Mediums and psychics believe in what they are doing and it is your choice to have that belief (or to suspend disbelief for an evening's entertainment). If someone is tricking a person into believing something they are not a medium or a psychic.

More thoughts on the new psychic laws:

Well first off. I often host such events and of course I have nothing. This is perhaps why I was chosen. If someone sued me they would get nothing for I have nothing. I thought I had been engaged as a thrilling entertainer now I realise the reason they chose me. I am just patsy!
Seriously though, there is another aspect to this law that concerns me. People are concerned that putting disclaimers on their literature is like saying it might not work; it's like saying they do not believe in what they do.
Again it is about how these changes will be applied. If trading standards people will be taking up complaints that do look as if someone has mislead a suffering individual in order to make a great deal of money then one could not argue with the situation. However if a blanket, or even God forbid, an aggressive approach is applied to all, then wonderful gifted people may well be held back from giving faith and energy to those who choose to grow and be healthier.
One would like to think that the focus will be on the very few cases in which activities are being misused or beliefs and results are being falsely claimed. Perhaps belief is the key and those who are genuine in their life path of seeking to use spiritual effects for the benefit of all will be allowed to continue to have faith in what they are doing.
The temptation for me is to continue to do what is believed in and allow the law to take that as it pleases. That to me is a preferable way forward to signed disclaimers or statements of doubt. "This is my faith and way forward, judge me was you will."
Saint Margaret of York of course refused to give a plea to the judge as she felt her beliefs could only be challenged by God. She was, however, crushed to death as a result.
There is a trend of late of legislation and authentification. Alternate therapies are being taken up as courses with standard qualifications. Colleges and universities are establishing syllabuses as a result of government legislation. Again a blanket approach is a concern. Qualifications and training being standardised is all well and good for acupuncture or perhaps homeopathy, but spirit healing and mediumship are not as quantifiable and may fall by the wayside of trained and permitted practices. There may even be a return to the period in modern history that older spiritualists recollect where secret gatherings of faithful elites practice away from the public who want or need the skills or the opportunity to develop.
Let us hope that a genuine belief will be allowed to continue and only those who maliciously aim to take advantage for immoral or illegal gain are victims, and that people will continue to be able to pursue a need for faith, help, healing and evidence of continuation of the spirit.

The Child Within

There is a small child within me that is still trapped within the turmoil of my torturous past and I feel this memory as massive energy; a feeling of being thrown against the wall, of ducking and running round in panic and sometimes of breathlessly hiding. Tonight, with the help of spirit, while sat in the spiritualist church this childlike energy rose up and became a part of me. Reunited and bright and alive and ready; I am unified as one positive being for the first time in my life.

They uplift us

When you enter this Spiritualist Centre,
The feeling is of peace.
The spirits of friends and family gather around.
Spirit children run here and there.
As we sit here, we hope to see them again, or at least receive a message to cheer us up a bit and help us through this painful life.
Until we meet again, we'll say a prayer and sing a song to lift our spirits up.
They all know we love them still and think of them a lot.
And we know that they love us and are around us all the time.
They make our life on earth worthwhile.

In the Light of Experience

Communication is so important.

Wisdom from life's expereinces is food for the soul.
The more you feed it, the stronger and wiser it becomes.

Every experience is inscribed on the soul, good or bad.
Often the things we go through, however difficult they may be, are for a reason
and it maybe that they were established
as a necessity before birth.  Something that the soul needed
to learn to cope with, to proceed and go forward.
